Stratford Park Leisure Centre will reopen its doors on Monday following a three-month closure due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The Government confirmed on Monday that leisure centres will be permitted to open with operational measures in place as part of the second step in their ‘roadmap’ out of lockdown.

This follows the reopening of several outdoor activities managed site on March 29, which is managed by at the Everyone Active in partnership with Stroud District Council.

Jamie Nesbit, Everyone Active’s contract manager, said: “We’re very much looking forward to reopening our centre and welcoming back the local community.

“After being closed for three months, the latest step in the Government’s Roadmap is a positive move forward for the leisure industry and gives people of all ages the opportunity to resume activity and exercise in their leisure centre.

“Ensuring our colleagues and customers remain safe continues to be our number one priority and we have carefully considered the strict measurements to ensure we adhere to the guidance.

“We will be contacting all customers directly over the coming days regarding the centres reopening. We look forward to welcoming everyone back and thank them for their patience.”

Stroud District Council’s Strategic Director of Communities, Keith Gerrard said: “Health and wellbeing is one of Stroud District Council’s five main priorities, and it has never been more important than at a time like this, so we are looking forward to welcoming everyone back to our centres.

The teams are working hard to ensure they are re-opened in line with government guidance, and always with the health and safety of customers and staff as a priority.”
