THERE is traffic congestion in Stroud today as a result of M5 traffic being redirected after a three-lorry crash this morning.

A driver died in the collision, which happened near to Michaelwood Services, between Thornbury and Stroud

Police were called at 5am to the incident on the southbound carriageway.

The road is currently shut in both directions between junctions 13 and 14, with traffic being diverted via the A38 or the A46 through Stroud.

A spokesman for Gloucestershire Police said officers were advising anyone travelling in the area to either delay their journey or use the A38 or the A46 through Stroud, although those routes are heavily congested.

There is currently congestion in: Nailsworth, Eastington, Kings' Stanley, Stonehouse and on the A38.
