A 21-year-old drug driver who exceeded 70mph on the M5 near Stroud has been banned from the roads for 14 months.
Shea Rourke, of Terrace Road, Pershore, was caught under the influence of cannabis speeding down the M5 Southbound in Stroud District on August 31, 2020.
He pleaded guilty at Cheltenham Magistrates court on April 24, 2021 to two driving offences and was fined £180 on top of his disqualification.
The judge handed down a 14 month ban for drug driving and a 28 day ban for speeding.
There were 4.1 micrograms of Tetrahydrocannabinol, an constituent of cannabis, per litre of his blood – more than twice the legal limit.
The judge ordered Rourke to pay a £34 surcharge to fund victims services and £40 in court costs.
