A NEW multi-functional creative venue has opened in the heart of Nailsworth.

Located in the former Comrades Club, it is called Three Storeys, partly due the split of the building across three floors.

It features artists' and makers' studios on the first floor, a large co-working space and a meeting room on the lower ground floor, with a gallery and café space in the middle.

Creative director Susie Hetherington said that the name also reflects the history of the building.

"Formerly this location was Nailsworth Brewery, for near enough 100 years, and then the Comrades Club for the next 100," she said.

"And we are the next chapter in the story."

"We are creating a venue or community for creative working, and wanted people to come to Three Storeys to work, share what they are doing, and collaborate."

The Coronavirus pandemic hit mid-build, and delayed progress considerably whilst the site had to close. But the team got back to work as soon as it was safe, and they were finally able to open the building in early this year.

"Now we are really enjoying sharing the building, seeing people working within the spaces we have created, and making connections between each other," said Susie.

"All nine of our studios have tenants in; painters, textile artists, architects, a film maker, photographer, architects; a really good mix of disciplines.

"In our co-working space, we have a mix of permanent and flexible desk spaces, and are really pleased to see the variety of people coming to use the space.

"We have some exciting exhibitions and workshops coming up this year, and are delighted that the café can now open fully, as restrictions ease."
