A police dog tracked down a missing ‘high risk’ woman from Stonehouse this morning and found her collapsed in a field.
First aid was given by Stroud police officers at the scene, near Nympsfield, before an ambulance took her to hospital.
Officers found her car in a layby at 1am before deploying a German Shepard named Quest, who located the woman lying on the ground nearby.
The woman went missing on Wednesday afternoon and police considered her to by ‘high risk’.
Dogs like Quest, who is a rescue, are trained to track both missing people and criminals.
They are trained to bite criminals when commanded to do so by their handlers or if the handler is under attack they will self-deploy to protect them.
