GLOUCESTERSHIRE has been named as one of the top places for a sunny staycation in the UK this July.

As part of their Sunny Staycations campaign, the broadband team at Uswitch have crunched the numbers to reveal the top staycation spots for the best weather during the summer months.

And with an average of 22℃ during July, Gloucestershire took top place as the staycation spot with the warmest temperature in the mid summer month.

The list was created from Airbnb's list of top trending staycation destinations for the UK, and then historical Met Office data was used from each location's closest weather station. The data range for the weather data was January 1970 to April 2021.

Due to the continuing uncertainty over travelling abroad this year, staycations have become the popular choice for the UK's holiday makers.

But as we all know, the UK's weather is notoriously unpredictable and it can be hard to know if you’ll get a wet weekend in Wales or a scorcher in Scotland.

So this information was compiled with that in mind.

Scotland came top of places to visit in June, with good weather predicted at Loch Lomond, the Cairngorms and the Isle of Skye.

East Sussex was also highlighted as a sunny June destination.

Gloucestershire and Devon were both recommended destinations for sunshine in July.
