Forest Green Rovers have signed Sadou Diallo on a one-year-deal.

The Guinea-born midfielder left Wolverhampton Wanderers this summer, where we won the Premier League 2 title under new Rovers boss Rob Edwards in 2019.

Diallo, 22, started his career with Manchester City - and spent the second-half of last season on loan with League One outfit Accrington Stanley.

On making the move, Diallo said: "I'm very happy to be here and I can't wait to get started.

"I've learned a lot on my loan spells and I'm looking forward to taking that forward.

"I'm a midfield player. Depending on what the game needs I can play more attacking or more defensively-minded."

Meanwhile, forward Jack Aitchison has returned to Forest Green on a season-long loan from Barnsley.

The former Celtic youngster made 30 appearances for Rovers during the 2019/20 season, scoring six goals.

Aitchison rose through the ranks at Celtic Park and at just 16-years-old, he scored on his Celtic debut with his first touch in a 7-0 victory over Motherwell.

A permanent move to Oakwell for the 21-year-old then materialised last October - before joining fellow League Two outfit Stevenage on loan for the remainder of the campaign.

On his return to Forest Green, Aitchison said: “Coming into the stadium it felt like I’d never been away.

“When I heard I would be going back out on loan there was only one place I wanted to be and that was here.

“I can’t wait for fans to be allowed back in and to play in front of them again.”

Rich Hughes, director of football at Forest Green Rovers, said: "We're delighted to be allowed to bring Jack back to the club.

“He was brilliant for us last time he was here and when the opportunity became available, it was a no-brainer for us."
