England fans across Stroud were left heartbroken last night after the team lost to Italy despite an impressive performance in the Euro 2020 final.

An electric start from the likes of Kane, Trippier and Shaw saw England go 1-0 up after just 2 minutes, inspiring confidence in the fans looking on from Stroud pubs and those watching at home.

After half-time, England couldn’t hold off attack after attack from the Italians, leaving the teams at 1-1 when 90 minutes were up and the district holding its breath through extra time.

No goals came in the next 30 minutes and a penalty shoot-out full of saves saw Italy win the game 3-2.

It was the first international final the men’s team had reached in 55 years and despite the outcome, Gareth Southgate and his team fought a thrilling campaign which has left the nation more proud that it has been for half a century.
