THE Trader of the week this week is Clair Cappell for the Little Ginger Deli and Car.

Clair took time out of her busy day to tell us about her business:

"My name is Claire Cappell and I am the owner of Little Ginger Deli and Cafe that I took over in December 2020.

"I am a brand new business owner and am learning every day as I go on.

"The deli is best known for its amazingly tasty and chunky deli sandwich filled with a choice of any meat and any cheese from our range along with a delicious chutney and salad leaves. These are all made up fresh and the meat cut in front of the customer. Many people have told me they didn’t like sandwiches until they tried ours. The Hobbs House Bloomer bread we use also helps make them so delicious. We sell as many as take away as we do to eat in. Meat and cheese platters beautifully presented on slates with a selection of deli items, cheese biscuits, deli items, chutneys and grapes keep us afloat in lockdown.

"This along with our freshly made quiches and selection of fresh salads these are our best selling product. Obviously we have a varied menu to meet all dietary needs.

"The ethos of Little Ginger has always been that anyone who walks through the door is given a warm welcome and a smile. The team make a conscious effort to remember names and to remember our regulars orders. Many people are lonely and have a lot going on in their lives - it was important to create an atmosphere where everyone feels significant and equally happy to come as a group of friends, family or on their own. The ethos of being kind is something I feel strongly about even when it is not always reciprocated by customers. Something must be going on in their lives to behave in such a manner. Dogs are welcomed and always given a treat - they aren’t as tricky as their owners! 😉

I love Stroud and being part of the community- their are plenty of characters and a lot of opinions! It’s a community that supports small local business and local business support each other. We have on our window ‘Serving Stroud and Proud.
