POLICE found a lost wallet containing cash and cocaine in a Cotswold town yesterday.

The grey/beige wallet was discovered in the Market Square in Stow on the Wold. The town is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the Cotswolds.

Officers checked the contents of the wallet and located £655, as well as two packets of cocaine.

It prompted police to issue an invitation to the wallet's owner on social media.

They posted the message: "We have found a grey/beige wallet in Stow's Market Square.

"It contains £655 and two packages of cocaine.

"If this is your wallet and you want to claim it back please call 101 and ask for PC Webb."

If any amount of cocaine, which is a Class A drug, is found on you, it counts as possession. How serious this is depends on factors such as the amount and whether you’ve got a previous prison sentence.

Although maximum sentences are very rarely given, the maximum sentence for possession of a Class A drug is seven years in prison and a fine.
