POLICE are appealing for the public's help to identify a boy who officers would like to speak to in connection with a serious assault in Cheltenham.

It was reported that at 2.30am on Sunday 4 July a group of boys assaulted a man on the upper end of Cheltenham High Street causing him to lose consciousness and having to receive hospital treatment.

Officers would now like to speak to the boy in the CCTV image and are asking for help from the public. The boy is described as being white, wearing a black tracksuit and riding a bicycle.

Two boys, both from Cheltenham, were arrested shortly after the offence under suspicion of assault causing actual bodily harm. They have since been released under investigation.
