FORMER pupils of Berkeley Vale School, Berkeley Vale Community school and the Vale of Berkeley College got together to swap stories and reminisce about their schooldays at a reunion at the weekend.

Friends Steve Mansell, Mally O'Connell, Sue Elliot and Nikki Harris organised the bash, which took place at Hamfield Leisure (Berkeley Power Station Club) on Saturday evening.

Everyone who studied there, between 1971 up to 2011 when it closed, was invited to come along.

All the money from ticket sales is going to Berkeley and Sharpness Scouts and Guides, in memory of former scout leader Pat Day.

Steve said: "The reunion went better than any of us could of ever imagined.

"We had about 350 former pupils and teachers attend.

"It was all held in good spirits with many people catching up after many years of not seeing each other.

"There was a lot of laughter drinking and reminiscing about the school days we spent together.

"Mr Murphy a former woodwork teacher messaged me saying he was 'glad to see how his former pupils had turned into such a wonderful group and was proud to have been a part of their journey in life'.

"After the initial catch ups most people came to the dance floor to tunes from the 1960s to the present day.

"In all we have raised a total of £1,000 for the Berkeley and Sharpness Scouts and Guides.

"We will be presenting a cheque to them on a future date to be arranged.

"Can I just thank everyone who came to the reunion and let's hope its not too long before we all meet up again."
