A BURGLAR stealing cash from a charity box was arrested after he was dramatically chased through a museum by police.
Lee Anthony Mercer was caught after officers pursued him following the night-time break-in at Chepstow Museum over the summer.
The 36-year-old was handed a 12-month community order at Newport Magistrates’ Court after he pleaded guilty to burglary on August 7.

Mercer, of Wickliffe Place, Rochdale, Greater Manchester, was ordered to carry out 80 hours of unpaid work and complete a 10-day rehabilitation activity requirement.
The defendant must pay £100 compensation, £85 costs and a £95 surcharge.
