A celebrity poet has taken to Twitter to post a short poem about the sewage bill.
Pam Ayres MBE who lives near Cirencester penned the poem in the early hours of this morning, just days after Conservative MPs voted against an amendment to the Environment Bill meaning that raw sewage can still be dumped into waterways.

Now river life is dying
And turning up its feet
Along the Shitcreek River
Where vapours ain’t so sweet
Where water ain’t so crystal
Where sewage oozes down
Along the Shitcreek River
Where the waters turning brown.
The celebrity poet then added a second part to the poem later in the morning for good measure.

Farewell sparkling brooklet
The salmon in the pool,
Good morning panty liner
The tampon and the stool,
Strange that a government
On thrones of power seated
Pollutes it’s joyful waterways
With sewage left untreated.
The government describes the environment bill as a ‘landmark’ but the recent furore about it comes as Boris Johnson today also demonstrated worry over the United Nations Climate Change Conference which begins on Sunday.
