A PAEDOPHILE who streamed a film on the internet of a young girl being raped and groomed two other victims has been jailed for 10 years.

Liam Thomas was caught after distressed viewers in Canada witnessed the horrifying movie and contacted Interpol.

Andrew Davies, prosecuting, said the defendant’s IP address was traced and Gwent Police arrested the 24-year-old at his Caerphilly home.

Detectives found that Thomas had also been grooming two schoolgirls online who were blackmailed into performing sex acts on themselves for him and fellow paedophiles.

Cardiff Crown Court heard the defendant had streamed the rape video as if it were happening live.

Thomas got sexual satisfaction from this “taboo” and of seeing the reaction of people who came across the film, especially underage girls.

The defendant, formerly of Aberbargoed, now of Argoed Fawr Lane, Argoed, near Blackwood, pleaded guilty to 16 counts which were committed between 2019 and 2020.

They included causing a child to engage in sexual activity, making an indecent photograph of a child and possession of an indecent photograph of a child.

Thomas had no previous convictions.

Kevin Seal, representing Thomas said: “He was obsessed with the internet and it has isolated him.

“The defendant has lived a parallel life, an unreal life of the internet.

“He was candid and open with the police.”

Mr Seal added: “His guilty pleas are a genuine indication of remorse.

“The defendant knows he has caused a lot of pain and suffering.

“He needs a lot of professional help for the future.”

Judge David Wynn Morgan told Thomas he had committed a “litany of despicable offences”.

He added: “There were the use of the threats of blackmail and the recording of sexual images.

“You targeted vulnerable children.”

Thomas was categorised as a dangerous offender.

He was jailed for five years and four months and an extended licence of four years and six months for the protection of the public.
