THE KINGFISHER at the Ocean in Stonehouse has been named as Kevin.
This comes as we put a post up asking for people's suggestions on what our cute friend could be called.
According to one, Mo Morrison, the kingfisher was male because the beak is entirely black.
As per Connor O'Dowd's suggestion, 'Got to be ‘Kevin’ surely. Kev for short.'
The SNJ has decided that Kevin it is.
Other suggestions included:
Karl
Dave
Stan
Donald
Hal
Pedro
The bird was spotted fishing in the shallow waters at The Ocean in Stonehouse as the canal was drained for the new bridge to go in.
Before the canal was emptied, thousands of fish were captured and released into the canal away from the work site.
An environmental specialist has been keeping a watchful eye on the wildlife close to the site, including the local swan families.
