A BANK in Stroud town centre has shut just days before its permanent closure.

Barclays in the King Street is due to shut permanently from Friday, January 14, but a sign has been left on the door saying it has had to close temporarily.

The sign says: "Due to unforeseen circumstances this branch is temporarily closed.

"We hope to reopen on Thursday, January 13.

"We apologise for any inconvenience.

"Alternative means of banking include telephone banking, online banking or mobile banking."

The nearest Barclays branches are in Cirencester and Gloucester.
