Update: SSEN have now said they hope to have power restored by 11am, leaving residents in the dark for three hours longer than first expected

In an update provided to those affected the company said: "Our engineers are working hard to get your power restored.

"However, due to complexities of repairing the issue, it is going to take longer than initially expected to restore your power."

A power cut affecting several postcodes in Wroughton has left people without power since 5am.

The power cut is listed on the Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) outage maps and is believed to be affecting the following postcodes - SN4 9EL, SN4 9EN, SN4 9EW, SN4 9JT, SN4 9LE.

The energy company states that the problem should be resolved by 8am, and some have reported on Facebook that their power has returned, but others are still waiting.

One resident said: "We've had a power cut in Wroughton from 5am and there's still no electricity and it’s cold."

SSEN has said: "We're sorry for the loss of supply. We currently have a fault affecting the areas listed.

"If you need more information please call us on 105 or send us a message on Facebook or Twitter."
