Today is International Women’s Day and gift experience provider, Buyagift, is celebrating.

The company has been shining a spotlight on their inspirational female experience partners, including professional wing-walker, Kirsten Pobjoy, from Stroud.

Along with Kirsten, the female leaders being celebrated include supercar instructors, head chefs and female entrepreneurs.

This year’s International Women’s Day theme is #BreakTheBias so, Buyagift wanted to share the powerful women in leading roles stereotypically held by men to show that women can also enjoy and pursue a career in these fields.

Professional wing-walker Kirsten Pobjoy

Kirsten Pobjoy, from Stroud, has been wing-walking for five years and mostly flies in the lead position.

The 24-year-old adores displaying with her fellow wing-walkers, performing handstands, climbing around the aircraft and zooming across the globe.

Helping Kirsten in the air is her background specialising in trapeze and aerial circus.

When not climbing around vintage aircraft, you can find her teaching aerial circus, cooking, practicing yoga, and focusing on her artwork.

She feels privileged to have had so many wonderful adventures and considers herself a ‘collector’ of unique views; her most memorable being loop-the-loops over the Gobi Desert at sunset.

She said: "We are actually the only professional formation women’s team in the whole world.

"I lead the team, and I’m joined by my best friend who I’ve known since I was eleven, which is really fun.

"We train a lot and it’s really hard work physically, and it's awesome to look back and think, wow. We’re actually really strong and I can do stuff like that, I climb around an airplane and go 165 miles an hour."

To put your acrobatic skills to the test while in the air, wing-walking is available via Buyagift.

Adventurous activities to try this International Women's Day

By providing experiences such as track days, flying lessons and wing-walking, Buyagift say they provide girls and women with the opportunity to try out these professions and experiences, possibly igniting a passion in an area that they might otherwise never have access to, or the chance to fulfil a life-long dream.

Marketing and Digital Executive Director, Alison Vickery said: “We are so proud to work with such strong experience partners who are women, especially in typically male-dominated roles.

“They are leading the way as an inspiration to other females who might want a career in that field but didn’t think it was possible.”

If you too want to smash up some stereotypes this International Women's Day, why not book yourself one of these adventurous activities.

Buyagift have lots of options for getting behind the wheel such as the Double Supercar Driving Blast with High Speed Passenger Ride and the Formula Silverstone Single Seater Driving Experience.
