Tony is proprietor of Party On Up in Stroud.
Party On Up is part of Confection Affection which has sweets to blow your socks off as well.
We spoke to Tony about his fun loving business and what he thought about operating in Stroud.
What is your full name?
Tony Davey
What is the name of the business?
Party On Up
Are you the owner?
I’m the Manager and Principal Balloon Decorator - the business is part of Confection Affection.
What is the ethos of the business?
To provide great quality party goods that bring a smile.
We’re one of the earliest members of the Pro-Environment Balloon Alliance (promoting better practice in balloon retail and use) and I am one of around 4,000 Certified Balloon Artists in the world - dedicated to providing balloon enjoyment that literally doesn’t cost the earth.
We were also the first shop of our type in the UK and Europe to offer to recycle or repurpose every balloon we sell that cannot be composted.
What is your best selling item / most used service?
Balloons - from a colourful celebration balloon to larger balloon decor - they are our best sellers.
Even during restricted trading we delivered small bouquets of balloons to customers for their lockdown birthdays, helping facilitate small household-based celebrations in the most challenging of times.
What is the weirdest thing you have been asked for in business?
Photocopying - every week.
We often have customers who mistake our door for James & Owen next door. We don’t mind, but customers often blush.
What is Stroud like as a town to operate in?
Stroud is a great town to do business in - we’ve traded Party On Up there for over 10 years; in our London Road store since 2016.
We have an amazing and loyal customer base and enjoy helping the celebrations of generations of the families we serve.
