A POPULAR Stroud event is returning this weekend.
Stroud Show – which brings together a fantastic family day of fun to celebrate rural life – returns on Saturday, July 16.
At the event held at Stratford Park there will be crafts, art, horticulture, delicious food and drink and of course plenty of dogs competing for various titles including waggiest tail.
This year's event will also mark a celebration of the show's 150th anniversary.
A spokesperson for the organising team said: "We are delighted to be planning to welcome everyone back for a fantastic family fun day.
"And just to prove we are Stroud and not just any town, there’s our world record for brickthrowing to defend against some determined Australian competition.
"This year we are also reintroducing the tug of war, as the winning team from 1977 has returned the cup and its up for grabs!
"After two lost years, we will be back with all the usual fun and a full programme of entertainment.
"And for all musicians thirsting for fame, we are again offering bands a chance to compete for a slot at Chalfest in front of 15,000 people."
Attractions include a traditional fun fair, Punch and Judy, children's art tent, animals to see plus candyfloss, ice cream and other treats for children.
There will also be a colouring competition.
Stroud Brewery will have a stand and there will be great food, music and entertainment.

Once again the Edna Powell Cup will be awarded for outstanding contribution to the community.

This is an opportunity to say thank you together in honour of former show organiser Edna Powell.
The show is at Stratford Park with a formal opening at 11.45am, gates open at noon and events run until about 6pm.
