A 29-YEAR-OLD man has been jailed for 18 weeks for stalking and assaulting a woman, drunkenly threatening her with a knife and assaulting a police constable.
Nathan Baldwin pleaded guilty at Cheltenham Magistrates Court to stalking the woman between April 7 and June 16 this year in Stroud, causing her to fear at least twice that violence would be used against her.
The charge stated that as part of the stalking he had left a voicemail, sent texts, made calls, watched the house and contacted her friends.
Baldwin also admitted assaulting her at Stroud between 7-10 April this year and assaulting a police officer by beating in Stroud on April 24.
As well as jail sentences totalling 18 weeks for the three offences the magistrates ordered Baldwin, of Mayhill View, Newent, to pay a victim services surcharge of £128.

They said the offences against the woman deserved jail because 'intoxicated, you went to her home, children were present, and you threatened her seriously with a knife.'
"The stalking was over a long period of time and there were substantial threats made," they added.
The assault on the officer also merited imprisonment because Baldwin was intoxicated and pushed an officer who was simply doing his job, the court added.
