Malvern Town recovered from going a goal down inside 60 seconds to secure a 3-1 win at Tuffley Rovers on Tuesday night as they picked up their first three points of the season.

Ryan Dobbins' first minute header gave Tuffley a shock early lead before Harry Clark equalised in the 12th minute when poking home after Matt Turner's strike was saved.

Dave Reynolds' free-kick gave Malvern the lead in the second-half and the points were made safe when Clark was again on hand to tap home from close rage in the 73rd minute.

Malvern then cruised through the final stages to secure their first win of the Hellenic League Premier campaign, after last week's opening 2-2 draw with Westfields.

The Hillsiders could have been forgive for still riding the wave of last weekend's famous 2-1 FA Cup win over Worcester City but they were brought crashing back down to earth on Tuesday when Dobbins nodded Tuffley ahead with barely 60 seconds on the clock.

Jack Beardsell almost doubled their lead before Clark was on hand to poke home the equaliser. Turner's initial shot was parried and the winger opened his account for the season.

Luke Payne and Ben Hayes were linking up nicely in attack as Malvern began to get into their stride and both saw strikes on goal narrowly miss the target.

Turner, having scored two in the draw with Westfields, almost made it three in two soon after but his effort also drifted agonisingly wide of the mark as the half-time whistle blew.

The second-half saw the visitors turn the screw somewhat and after missing the target earlier on, Reynolds showed his precision with a free-kick that was curled into the back of the net on the hour.

Clark made it two for the evening when a goalmouth scramble saw the lively winger react quickest to bundle the ball over the line and with it, give Malvern a two-goal buffer.

The Hillsiders could have added to the score but it did not matter in the end as they picked up win number one of the new season.
