Worcester Raiders will play local rivals Malvern Town in the preliminary round of the FA Cup after they put four past Daventry Town in their 4-2 replay win on Wednesday night at Sixways.

Despite going a goal behind to Nat Gosnal-Taylor, Raiders replied immediately through Isaac Cooper before Joe Billingham made it 2-1 five minutes before the break.

Centre-half James Timmins and man of the match Jordan Murphy then scored in the second-half to put the game beyond doubt as Raiders cruised to a thoroughly deserved victory.

Craig Maisiri did get a late consolation for the visitors but it was too little too late as Raiders set up a mouthwatering tie with Malvern Town at the HDAnywhere Community Stadium.

Having drawn away at Daventry in what was their first ever appearance in the FA Cup, Raiders welcomed 600 into the stands to watch on in their first ever home game in the competition.

And it was an encouraging start for the home side as the long ball over the top was providing some joy for the likes of Jordan Murphy and Jade Ferron as Daventry's high-line was breached on numerous occasions.

But it was the visitors who struck first, slightly against the run of play as Nat Gosnal-Taylor beat the offside trap and slotted past Ryan Young.

But just like they did last weekend, they responded within a couple of minutes as Ferron raced away down the right before his cut-back was was thumped home by Cooper at the second attempt.

Raiders were the better side from then on and kept causing problems for the Daventry back four, who looked tired and slow off the mark.

And with five minutes remaining in the half, Ferron again charged towards the box before playing it to Murphy, who had time to flick it around the corner and find Billingham, who took it around the keeper and slotted into the empty net.

Raiders had a great chance to extend that lead after the break but the lively Ferron could not convert after being played in by skipper Billingham.

Daventry then had a golden opportunity to equalise when the ball fell to Tom Lorraine from 10 yards out, but he ballooned his shot way over the bar with the goal gaping.

And that miss proved costly as Raiders went up the other end a few minutes later and centre-half James Timmins flicked a near post corner looping into the top corner on the hour to jubilant scenes amongst the 600-odd in the stadium.

The hosts were then set-up perfectly to play on the counter, and that they did to more devastating effect.

Ferron ghosted his way past the defenders down the right before crossing into Murphy, only for the ball to just evade him but run through to Cooper, who thrashed an effort against the post. But Murphy was there to score the rebound, thumping home into the middle of the goal.

Maisiri did manage to score with time running out as Daventry got a late consolation but it was too little too late, as Worcester Raiders secured a memorable win.
