AFTER seeing the odd amusing slogan of late, I was wondering whether we ought to have one?

Maybe “Local is our Focal” or “After lettuce we Lust”? The possibilities are endless!

Regular readers will know I do delight in announcing a new product, previously unavailable, at the market, especially if it is brought to us by another really local business.

This Saturday sees the arrival of Karobi’s Ghee from Painswick for the first time. They will be attending once a month on the 3rd Saturday.

Karobi’s Ghee is made from organic grass-fed butter. The butter is clarified and mixed with organic spices to create a range of flavours; plain, garlic, ginger, turmeric, and cardamom.

There are also 2 honey sweetened chocolate ghee blends made with Dickinson’s of Bisley honey and organic, fair-trade cocoa.

Ghee is a healthy cooking fat/spread even at high temperatures with no trans fats at all and is high in vitamins D3 and K2 and healthy antioxidants when made from grass fed butter. It has a rich, fatty flavour, a long shelf life and will be available in glass jars from Karobi.

Elsewhere, Glenda, the Canolli Siciliano lady is back, and the Garlic Farm make their monthly appearance.

Out on Union Street VQ Country wines always strikes me as something quintessentially local market. You are rarely (never!) presented with a bottle of Blaisdon Plum wine, or Redcurrant, or Nettle wines in the wine racks of our supermarkets. This well-established vintner produces some classics.
