A BRAND new theatre company will officially launch their new group with a production in Chipping Sodbury later this month.

The Blank Slate Ensemble has been started by Ross Brown, Jake Palmer and Ryan Carroll, actors who have been a part of amateur dramatics in the area for a number of years, performing with popular group Sodbury Players.

Jake and Ryan have both studied performing arts whilst Ross has recently completed a masters degree in directing at Bath Spa University.

The Blank Slate Ensemble will open their first show on Monday, November 28 as the actors perform alongside five other professionals, a script that was written by Ryan himself.

Their show is called a Falling Star and tells the story of a young man who is preparing for his life with his girlfriend. She is an astrologist but when she suddenly passes away he finds himself looking for a new sense of purpose and way to deal with his grief.

Ross Brown, also a teacher at Brimsham Green School, said he is looking forward to bringing something different to the audiences of Sodbury.

He said: “The Blank Slate Ensemble is something we have been working on for a long time.

"It started as a concept during the covid lockdown and we are really looking forward to having the opportunity to bring something new to people.

“The show finds an exciting balance between comedy and drama which we hope keeps really entertained. It’s got something for everyone

“The support we’ve received already has been incredible considering this is a new company and we can’t wait to get started.

The show will premiere at Chipping Sodbury Town Hall, a large amount of tickets have been sold already but there are some still available online at tinyurl.com/k896t9mj
