A dad-of-three from Stonehouse is planning a dream holiday as a belated silver wedding anniversary present after winning a £30,000 lottery prize.

56-year-old Roger Coultas won the money when his postcode - GL10 2JY - was announced as a winner with People’s Postcode Lottery on Saturday 26 November.

Roger said: “I’m in shock, I’m shaking. It’s a brilliant surprise!”

Roger is planning to spend the windfall on a special trip as a belated wedding anniversary present to his wife Lisa. He said: “We do need a holiday. We haven’t had a holiday for a while.

“We got married in Antigua and promised ourselves that we’d revisit as a 25th wedding anniversary present but it never happened because of lockdown. It’d be nice to be able to go back and do that.

“We might even try and squeeze a cruise around the Caribbean in too!”

Roger isn’t short of people to help him spend the prize. He said: “I’ve got three boys but I don’t think they’ll believe me when I tell them what’s happened, well I think they might believe me when they see some money in their bank account. I might treat them to a holiday.

One of the reasons Roger plays People’s Postcode Lottery is because he knows he’s helping to support charities. He said: “It’s not just about the winning, it’s about the giving too.

“But it is nice to win and £30,000 is a very nice number to win.”

Roger was the only person playing with the winning postcode. Had anyone else been playing then they also would have won £30,000.

Postcode Lottery ambassador Jeff Brazier presented Roger with his cheque. He said: “I’m chuffed for Roger and loved hearing his plans for the winnings. It certainly sounds like he and Lisa will have a holiday to remember!”

People’s Postcode Lottery costs £10 a month to play and there are guaranteed winners every day. People play with their chosen postcode and are automatically entered into all draws.

Players of People’s Postcode Lottery have raised more than a billion pounds for thousands of charities and local good causes.

This draw was promoted on behalf of Postcode Animal Trust, which supports charities including Dogs Trust, Cats Protection and PDSA.
