TWO men have been banned from Bristol Airport for five years after verbally abusing airline staff.
Police were called to the airport on Monday March 3 following reports of intoxicated passengers being aggressive towards staff ahead of a flight to Antalya, Turkey.
The incident occured in the departure lounge and gate areas of the airport.
Lee Morgan, 39, and James Gibbons, 32, both admitted two public order offences and were sentenced at North Somerset Magistrates’ Court on April 22.
Morgan, of Glan-Y-Nant, Llangybi, Monmouthshire, was handed a community order, including 120 hours of unpaid work, as well as being ordered to pay £85 costs and a £114 surcharge.
Gibbons, of Cape Lindsey Road, Newport, also received a community order, including 180 hours of unpaid work, as well as being ordered to pay the same costs and surcharge.
Sgt Danielle Hardaway said: “These two men were highly aggressive and threatening towards airline staff and police officers throughout.
“Their behaviour was disgraceful and also caused distress and concern to other passengers who had to witness it.
“Those who are not fit to fly due to intoxication will not be allowed to board the plane, and robust action will always be taken in such cases.”
