A REFURBISHED school library has been officially reopened by a children’s author.

Jess Butterworth visited Bussage Primary School to open the updated library, which was recently restored after a leaking roof caused damage and led to the loss of a number of books.

Extensive repairs were carried out and, thanks to fundraising by the school’s PTA, the library has been transformed into a bright, welcoming space with a refreshed collection of books.

Zoe White, headteacher, said: "We were delighted to welcome Jess Butterworth to Bussage Primary School.

"It was particularly special to have her open our newly repaired library, which will play such an important role in fostering a lifelong love of reading."

During her visit, Ms Butterworth ran workshops with children, exploring the writing process and encouraging pupils to develop their storytelling skills.

She said: "It was a joy to visit Bussage and celebrate their love of reading by opening their brilliant library."

Pupils, staff and families all celebrated the reopening.
