JOSHUA Eades-Fox hurled verbal abuse at police while drunk and later spat repeatedly on the walls and floor of his custody cell, a court heard.

Sharon Green, prosecuting at Stroud Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, September 8, told how police were called to a disturbance at Nouncells Cross in Slad, near Stroud, around 10.30pm on August 14, where Eades-Fox was present.

He swore and shouted repeatedly at the officers, who arrested him for being drunk and disorderly.

While en-route to Stroud police station, he spat several times inside the vehicle and again verbally abused staff once at the station.

He was placed in a cell where he continued spitting at the walls, door and floor.

Clare Mortimer, defending, said Eades-Fox, 21, of Nouncells Cross, Slad, was ‘very remorseful’ and added that he did not attempt to spit directly at any member of police staff.

She said he been drinking heavily that day at a wedding reception and was feeling low because of strained relationships with peers in his neighbourhood.

Eades-Fox admitted one charge of being drunk and disorderly in a public place and one charge of criminal damage for spitting and was fined a total of £220 with £85 costs and £15 victim surcharge.
