GEOFFREY Osbourne damaged windows and a door at a rented home before smearing his blood on walls inside a Stroud police cell, a court was told.

Osbourne, aged 38, of Summer Crescent, Stroud, pleaded guilty to two counts of criminal damage at Stroud Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, April 6.

The court was told that around 10.55pm on December 31, 2010, police were called to Osbourne’s address, which he rents from Bromford Housing Group.

Officers discovered Osbourne in an intoxicated state and found that an internal door at the property and four double glazed windows had been damaged.

He was arrested and treated on the scene for a cut to his hand.

Whilst at Stroud police station, the court was told he became aggressive and was put in a cell, where he deliberately smeared blood from the cut.

Defending himself, Osbourne spoke only to offer an apology.

The court also heard a plea of mitigation from probation officer Patrick Tracy, who added that Osbourne had become a father since the incident.

He was given a conditional discharge for 18 months and was ordered to contribute £40 towards the cost of damage in the police cell.

Bromford Housing Group is liasing privately with him about the cost of damage at his address.
