AFRICAN teachers came to Stroud to learn about the English education system.
Stroud High invited three teachers from schools in Cape Town, South Africa to sit in on lessons.
As part of the AfriTwin project, Stroud High is linked to two schools, Mfuleni High School and Rustenburg High School.
The teachers Zukile Mngqibisa, Louise Albertyn and Dean Laufs were able to observe teaching techniques but also managed to spend time out of the classroom by visiting Oxford, Gloucester and Bath.
Teacher Karen Whitehead said Stroud High is hoping to set up Skype conferences, pen pal correspondence and joint school projects in art, science and English.
"It was hugely important that they came so they could learn about our education system," she said.
Pupils also raised money by selling jewellery on Stroud Farmers’ Market for the charity Habitat for Humanity, which builds homes for needy families in South Africa.
