A MAN has been ordered to keep his pet bullmastiff dog ‘Tyson’ on a muzzle at all times in public after a court heard it attacked a woman, leaving her permanently scarred.

Daniel Trickey, aged 30, of Deerhurst Place, Quedgeley, admitted failing to keep the dog under control in a public place at a civil hearing at Stroud Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, September 14.

The court was told the seven-year-old canine jumped up at a woman in Severnvale Drive in Gloucester on November 21 last year, causing an injury to her chest that left permanent scarring despite her undergoing plastic surgery.

It had previously been in a minor fight with the victim’s son’s dog and both parties were unsure if the woman’s injury was caused by a bite or its claws.

Matthew Griffiths, defending, said Trickey’s dog had been kept on a lead at all times and highlighted the defendant’s view that the victim had ruffled the dog’s head and agitated it before the attack.

He also pointed to a police officer’s statement that the dog was ‘calm and under control’ when he attended the scene.

As well as observing the control order, Trickey was also ordered to pay £35 costs.
