A SPUR-of-the-moment decision to go out for fish and chips cost a motorist a two year ban and £350 in fines after she was found to be nearly three times the drink drive limit.
Carole Hammond admitted the charge at Stroud Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, January 25.
The bench was told she had drunk orange juice and vodka at home before driving to a takeaway in Brimscombe around 6.55pm on January 7.
Officers pulled her over after she was seen exiting Toadsmoor Road ‘at some speed’ and a roadside breath test revealed she had 94 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.
The legal limit is 35 microgrammes.
Simon James, defending, cited Hammond’s early guilty plea and her full co-operation with police.
As well as a 24-month disqualification, Hammond, aged 52, of Cotswold Close, Brimscombe, was fined £250 with £85 costs and a £15 victim surcharge.
