FOREST Green striker James Norwood has been banned from driving for 19 months after pleading guilty to being more than twice the drink-drive limit.

The 21-year-old was arrested by police in Stroud in the early hours last month and charged with driving with excess alcohol.

He appeared at Cheltenham Magistrates' Court earlier this month and was fined £400 and banned from driving for 19 months after giving a breath test reading of 73 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.

The legal limit is 35 microgrammes.

A police spokesman confirmed that Norwood was arrested in connection with the offence on Sunday, July 15.

"He was arrested at 3.45am in Parliament Street, Stroud, and bailed to Cheltenham Magistrates' Court," she said.

Norwood appeared before magistrates on Thursday, August 9.

A club spokesman said it was aware of the conviction and was 'managing the matter internally'.

The club declined to comment further.
