PANCAKE Day came early to Stroud with the official opening of The Round House creperie and cafe in the Merrywalks Centre.

Ashley Memory, 23, and Salome Egli, 23, both of Stroud, started running a crepe stall in the Shambles Market in October.

Salome said: “It was quite quiet but people liked it, and we started looking for something more permanent.

“We approached the Merrywalks team and they were really keen as they had been looking for independent caterers, so we started work here two weeks ago.”

Saturday saw the unveiling of the new revamped Round House, with a new gazebo, new menu and seating, including sofas, for up to 25 customers.

Ashley said: “We sell paninis, sweet and savoury crepes, baguettes and drinks, and we’re going to bring in cakes too.

“Our crepes are made with local ingredients including Shipton Mill flour and Woefuldane Dairy milk and our new fillings range from creamy chicken and mushroom to banana and chocolate in the Cheeky Monkey.”
