WOODCHESTER Cabinet Makers has unveiled a plush new showroom at its workshop to allow customers to see the level of craftsmanship that goes into all their bespoke kitchens.

Stroud author Katie Fforde turned up to support the launch along with a host of local businesses at the firm’s unit in Inchbrook Trading Estate on Wednesday, April 29.

Co-owners Tim Buckingham and Lee Hathaway, who first established the company in 1996, originally opened a separate showroom in Nailsworth but decided to integrate it with the workshop when the lease ran out.

"We wanted our customers to feel like they were part of the whole process," said Tim.

"It was the perfect opportunity to bring the business together so they can see what is involved in the creation of a bespoke kitchen – not just the finished product."

He added that by working alongside local traders like plumbers and electricians, the firm is able to project manage entire kitchens from scratch.

Business partner Lee added: "We basically design, make, fit and manage the whole thing, from the flooring to the lighting.

"We take pride in putting out a quality product and our new layout allows customers to see every stage of that."

Guests on the day were treated to a selection of drinks and nibbles donated by neighbouring companies including Hobbs House Bakery, Godsell’s Cheeses, Woodchester Fine Foods and the Bottle Green Drinks Co.

There was also a selection of kitchen equipment on display including plates, glasses and cutlery from William’s Kitchen at Colcot, and teapots and an Aga kettle from Mills Kitchen Shop in Stroud.

Speaking at the launch, author Katie Fforde, said: "Integrating the workshop and showroom is a very good idea because you can see the confidence in the products being made.

"I always shop as locally as I can and I have always have done.

"I feel very strongly that if you do not look after your own businesses they will not be there anymore." For more information contact Woodchester Cabinet Makers on 01453 835580, email tim@woodchestercabinetmakers.co.uk or visit www.woodchestercabinetmakers.co.uk.
