Cainscross WI Christmas Party

IN EARLY December 17 members of Cainscross WI enjoyed a traditional Christmas Party evening.

We thanked Linda for a lovely table arrangement, which included yellow roses and Pam Elliott for her seasonal arrangement.

Val also made the remaining tables very festive with miniature Christmas trees.

We enjoyed a buffet meal of cold ham, salads, hot potatoes and homemade coleslaw and beetroot salad.

This we washed down with wine or juices and followed with homemade trifles, tiramisu and pavlovas.

We then challenged ‘the little grey cells’ with a seasonal quiz prepared by Doreen, our President.

The Rose Bowl, for the year’s monthly competitions was awarded to:-

First - Tina Hewgill with 13 points

Second - Mary Jarrett with 12 points

Third - Mandy Sutton and Margaret Adams (joint) with 7 points

Fourth - Georgie Hall with 6 points

We listened to a tape of carols and seasonal music in the background and all had a good laugh with the pulling of crackers and the answers to the quiz.

We finished with the raffle, coffee, mince pies and mint chocolates and I am sure no-one left feeling hungry!

Our next meeting, to take place as usual in St. Matthew’s Church Hall, Cainscross starting at 7.15pm will fall on the first Tuesday, January 2, 2018, will be a Social Evening with chance to catch up with everyone’s news or carry on with any craft projects you have underway.

The monthly competition will be for a Handmade Gift.

This will be the start of our New Year’s programme which has a varied selection of guest speakers planned; some new ones and some returning with another of their talks which sounded very interesting.

We hope you may like to join us, either as a visitor, or new member to see what we get up to.
