Nailsworth and District Flower Arrangement Society with Sally Taylor

OUR host for the August meeting was Sally Taylor a talented Area Demonstrator from Thornbury.

Sally had changed her title for the evening to “Sallying Forth into Summer”.

Her first design entitled ”School’s Out” was a double arrangement of conifer, ivy, pittosporum and skimmia with red alstroemeria, red gerberas and red roses complimented with some appropriately placed school rulers.

Spheres covered in pink sisal representing ice creams stocks – Mr Whippy ice cream, deep pink centred roses raspberry sauce and bamboo sticks chocolate flakes, were all arranged in a dish to tempt the audience on a hot evening.

Sitting in the sunshine was the theme for her next design a simple arrangement of fatsia leaves, pittosporum cream antirrhinums and cream roses fastened to a trellis frame in the shape of the sun.

For her fourth design Sally used a home-made basket in which she placed jasmine, euonymus, hostas, larkspur, dahlias stocks and hypericum, to represent a picket fence and trellis in a summer garden.

A fifth design of phlox, agapanthus cala lillies red gerberas and some monbresia represented a holiday snorkling on a coral reef.

For her finale Sally wowed the audience with a beautiful table arrangement suitable for a summer wedding.

Throughout the evening she kept the audience entertained with her inspiring creativity, and a dry sense of humour.

Our next meeting is on September 5, in Nailsworth Town Hall at 7.30pm.

New members and visitors are always welcome.
