Glorious gardens
MR NORMAN Jeffery County Organiser of the National Garden Scheme gave an illustrated talk at a coffee morning at the Whitminster Village Hall on August 17.
This event was organised by Stroud Inner Wheel Club and over 80 members attended, from Inner Wheel Clubs across the District for a morning of coffee, cake and fellowship.
The audience learnt that the Open Gardens Scheme, was originated by the District Nurse Association to raise funds, prior to the introduction of the NHS.
Today the majority of funds raised by the Open Gardens Scheme are still donated to charities related to Nursing.
