Woodchester WI's summer
THE summer weather has been glorious, but Woodchester WI have certainly not been sitting around just enjoying the sun!
In July Stephen Rowley spoke to us about the History of Morris Dancing, and we were all surprised to learn about the links between dancing in modern Catalonia and Morris Dancing here.
Our traditional Fish and Chip supper was then enjoyed at our August meeting.
Our Craft Group has continued throughout the summer months.
Our next Craft Group is at Woodchester Village Hall on Thursday, September 6, 2-4 pm.
All are welcome to attend; just bring along any current craft project you are working on.
Our Book Group enjoyed a lively discussion following their reading of Ian McEwan’s ‘Nutshell’.
They are now looking forward to meeting Patrick Gale who will be talking about his new book ‘Take Nothing With You’.
Out and about, Woodchester WI supported St Mary’s Church’s fundraising campaign providing cakes and cream teas at the local garden party, and we look forward to hosting a stall at the Produce Show on Saturday, September 8.
Our next monthly meeting is on Thursday, September 20, 7.30pm, at Woodchester Village Hall, with ‘The Art of Flowers’ by Kate Whittaker.
We are always delighted to welcome new members, so please do come along and meet us; or email Angela at angela.j.pryor@gmail.com
