CHAIRMAN Stuart Gregory opened the Randwick Gardening Club meeting in the village hall on Tuesday, October 9.

He asked if any members wished to join the committee, and as there were no takers, the existing members will continue for another year.

He welcomed two new members and one visitor.

As it was the AGM the treasurer Mrs Betty Clark discussed the balance sheet for the year ending August 31, 2018.

The speaker for the evening Mrs M Bradshaw was then introduced, her talk headed "Finding the angle at Chelsea".

A journalist for many years, she gets to go to the Chelsea Flower Show on the first day - press day - and the second day - judging day - an ideal time for photographs before the crowds arrive.

There were pictures of celebrities and flamboyant costumes.

As she writes a column in Cotswold Life her main interest is in the Cotswolds, therefore she prefers gardens and people of local interest such as an interview with Laurence Llewelyn Bowen and Chris Beardshaw who is finishing for Chelsea after 20 years.

Also gold medal winning gardener Paul Hervey Brookes, owner of local shop Allomorphic in Lansdown.

A very enjoyable evening well presented.

The raffle was won by Judith, Sandra and Julie.

The next meeting is on Tuesday, November 13, when the talk will be Gardens of France - Bagatelle and Giverny - by Mr D Coombs.

Visitors are always welcome.
