Leonard Stanley WI's AGM and the Western Front Association
NOVEMBER is the month for our AGM, and this was dealt with efficiently at the start of the meeting.
We were pleased to hear that our finances are in a healthy state and that we have officers willing to serve at least for next year.
The programme is arranged and promises to be interesting.
Since the previous day had marked the centenary of the end of World War I it was very appropriate that our speakers were Dave and Helen Earle, members of the Western Front Association.
Members had brought along war memorabilia – old photos of family members, medals, shell cases, a father’s wallet which had contained all his papers, details of men from Gloucestershire who had served and information relating to the campaigns.
It all made for a very interesting and thought-provoking meeting.
Our final meeting of the year will be our Christmas tea, with entertainment by ‘The Young Ones’ (who aren’t – but their music is very jolly).
This will be on Monday, December 10, at 2.15pm in the village hall.
