Cainscross WI with a talk on the Sue Ryder Hospice in Leckhampton
MOST members were present for our early March meeting, although we did receive apologies from Elna and we hope to welcome her back next month.
We also received a lovely letter from longstanding member Dot Brunning who sadly cannot join us any more on a regular basis.
However, we hope to see her back now and again for a visit.
Mary was thanked for her spring flowers, arranged in a wicker basket.
These included some pretty red and yellow striped tulips, daffodils and grape hyacinths.
We discussed some correspondence received and also the arrangements for our Member’s Evening in April, when it was agreed that we should have our usual Cheese & Wine.
Doreen has also arranged a quiz for us as well so it should be a very good evening.
Visitors are always welcome, but we do need to know beforehand for catering purposes.
Doreen had some tickets for the forthcoming Weavers Group Meeting, which is also in April, for sale which will include a fashion show by M&Co.
With business concluded, we welcomed Beth from Sue Ryder at the Hospice in Leckhampton who had slides to show which gave a potted history of the hospice.
All in all it sounds a wonderful place to visit if longstanding illness means you need help in any way.
We concluded as usual with refreshments, the calling of the raffle and the monthly competition winners of a painting of spring announced as:-
First - June Bendall
Second -Mary Jarrett
Third - Margaret Adams
As already stated our next meeting, which falls on Tuesday, April 2, will be a Cheese & Wine Evening, which as usual takes place in St Matthew’s Church Hall, Cainscross, starting at 7.15pm.
Then on Tuesday, May 7, we will have the Resolutions Meeting, which will be followed by our annual ‘fun’ mini-auction.
This is always the place to bag a bargain and new members or visitors are very welcome to join us.
For more details on any of the above, please call Mary on 01453 762812.
