FORTY local artists displayed their work at an outdoor art fair outside the Sub Rooms on Saturday.

Organised by Eastcombe based artist Chris James, the aim of the event was to offer a free post lockdown event to a wide range of artists.

"The atmosphere was a joyful," Chris said.

"It was a stimulating and interesting occasion where you could see great paintings from Kerry Phippen, Jessy Plant and Debbie Cox, cyanotypes from Lyndsay Grant Miller, use of recycled materials in the work of Gail Anderson, water colours by Amy Primarolo, stone carving from Roy Exley, the pottery of Brian Anderson, Albi Lucas’s world particularly his car, textiles by Sarah White and Clare Hines, Zed’s graffiti, to name but a small section of the great work on show.

"The idea was to replicate similar outdoor shows that take place on a regular basis in Italy and France during the summer months.

"It was a huge success, the friendly atmosphere and stunning weather helped hugely, as many artists converged and interacted in the square during the day."

Chris is planning more similar events in the future.
