Temporary diversions are being made on the multi-user path between Nailsworth and Woodchester.
The main path over the Newman Hender bridge near Gydynap Lane was shut yesterday and will be closed for around 7 days to allow Gloucestershire County Council engineers to bore for samples in preparation for improvements to the bridge.
There is a small temporary diversion and an alternative route has been provided slightly to the east of the existing trail – this is partly a public footpath with steps, so extra care is advised. Signage has been put up in advance.
And on Thursday, June 24 and Friday, June 25 arborists carrying out tree pollarding work at Rooksmoor will use safe working signs on the path. The path will not be closed but access may be limited for short periods.
In 2019 more than 8,000 recycled tyres were used to create a smoother surface for the path used mainly by cyclists and walkers, as part of a project led by Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust (GWT) and funded by Gloucestershire County Council, Stroud District Council, NHS Gloucestershire Clinical Commissioning Group, and the European Regional Development Fund.
