A TEENAGER has died after a crash which shut a major road.

North Yorkshire Police say they are investigating a fatal collision which occurred on the A19 between Great Thirkleby and Carlton Husthwaite and are appealing for witnesses and information.

The incident happened at approximately 06.20am yesterday (September 27) and involved a white KTM motorcycle and a grey Seat Terraco. As The Press reported yesterday, the road was closed for much of the day for accident investigation work to be carried out.

A police spokesman said: "Sadly, the rider of the motorbike an 18-year-old male died at the scene of the incident. Both the driver of the car and passenger were taken to hospital with minor injuries.

"Anyone who witnessed the collision, or anyone who was driving in the area on the A19 around the time of the RTC who had a dashcam fitted to their vehicle, is asked to get in touch. We are especially keen to hear from anyone who was travelling towards Thirsk.
