SUPER-SUB Josh Klein – Davies fired a late leveller on his debut to rescue a point for Shortwood, writes Jim Cunneen.

Former Bristol Rovers' striker Klein-Davies, who joined the Nailsworth outfit on Thursday, stepped off the bench to grab an important point for the Nailsworth side, who had tasted back-to-back league defeats.

“A draw was the very least we deserved –but we weren’t clinical enough with our defending and we didn’t take our chances, said joint-manager John Evans.

The outstanding Marley Thomas scored the opening goal and was the thorn in the side of Swindon Supermarine.

Shortwood were certainly more positive than of late and Ross Langworthy had a shot blocked in the first minute. Meanwhile, keeper Sam Warrell had to dive on a low Joe White cross as Wood closed in.

White shaved the post with a low shot and it was no surprise when Wood took the lead after 14 minutes. Langworthy put Thomas through the middle with a precise pass and he ran on before firing low past the keeper.

Wood continued to push forward and it was against the run of play when Marine levelled. Wood conceded a free-kick and the ball fell to Corey King, who curled a shot across former Marine keeper Tom King.

Thomas had a shot blocked and new Wood captain Matt Bennett headed wide, but Marine had a golden chance to take the lead after 34 minutes when a low cross found Swindon Town loanee Connor Waldon only two yards out but he completely missed his kick.

Wood carried on where they left off in the second half. Bennett had an early chance and then Jake Lee headed a Nick Hancock free- kick over the bar.

Marine rallied, but Lee made a great block to deny Waldon. Bennett was inches wide with a drive, Warrell saved well from Thomas as Wood continued to press.

Klein – Davies came on to make his debut and Lee had a close range shot saved by Worrell before Adam Price rattled the bar with a shot from 25 yards.

However, Marine broke at speed and former Forest Green and Torquay man Bradley Gray was given too much space and time to turn and drive a shot home from outside the area.

Shortwood refused to give up and finally in added on time Price and Klein- Davis played a great one-two on the edge of the area. Klein – Davis shot took a deflection before dipping over Warrell and under the bar.
