DALE BENNETT is hoping a good showing in the Gloucestershire derby with Cheltenham Town last weekend will give Forest Green the impetus heading into Saturday’s National League home clash against Altrincham.

Rovers held the leaders to a 1-1 draw and remain a point behind the Robins.

Bennett said: “We went into the game knowing it was a local derby and I think that we played very well.

"We were unlucky to not get more than a point from the game,” he said.

“But I think the way we performed will give us confidence going into Saturday.

“As a squad it was the kind of game we want to play in. If you go there and express yourself the chances are that if you are doing most things right you are not going to do too many things wrong.

“Hopefully people saw that and enjoyed it and hopefully we can take it into Saturday and get the three points.

“We know that there are no easy games in this league. Anyone can cause anyone an upset on the day.

“If we go into the game playing as well as we can and start how we have done in our last couple of games then we should be alright.”
