Marling School’s Under-15 Handball team came second in the National Schools competition in Worcester.

The team performed consistently well throughout the competition, winning their five qualifying games before losing in the final to Pass Wood High School.

Mark Nicholson, Head of PE, said: “This is a huge achievement to come second in the country with over 1500 schools taking part in the competition.

“They competed against some of the top handball teams in the country and were beaten by last year’s silver medal winning team.

“They are a very dedicated group of boys who practice every week after school with the help of their coach, Matt Durber and Max Hardwicke, one of our sixth formers. Matt was very impressed by Max’s attitude and behaviour which he said set a fantastic example to the team.”
